Guided Meditation: Autumn Leaf
This month’s guided meditation invites you to slow down with the season. In this autumn-inspired practice, you’ll settle into a quiet outdoor scene — crisp air, the smell of fall leaves, the soft crackle of a squirrel in the distance — and follow a single leaf as it drifts down from the tallest tree, finding its way to rest on your chest and filling you with warmth.
It’s a meditation about releasing. About letting something travel at its own pace, without forcing it. And about sending a little of that warmth to someone you love before you open your eyes.
This one is especially good when the busyness of the season has pulled you away from yourself. Give yourself twelve minutes.

Welcome to Connecting with Superkate. I'm Superkate, and this week's episode is a guided meditation. I release these meditations once a month. I encourage you to take the time to be present for a few moments. And incorporating this meditation into your daily or weekly life allows you to find more calm, less stress, and enjoy your life more, as well as the lives of those you love. All of these meditations can be done seated or lying down, whatever you feel is more comfortable for you in the moment and what is available. Please do not meditate while you're driving and figure out a time when you're going to come back to this episode and really be present for yourself and for your body. Now take this opportunity to sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Perhaps you need a pillow under your head, maybe a pillow under your knees. As you get comfortable, letting your arms relax in whatever position feels best. As your body settles, pay attention to where your breath is. Simply noticing when you inhale, what part of your body rises or expands. And when you exhale, what part or parts of your body relax?
SPEAKER_01Inhaling and exhaling. Just noticing.
SPEAKER_00And as it's fall, I want you to imagine you are sitting or laying down outside. And through the magic of imagination, you are warm or cool. Whatever temperature feels best for your body. As you inhale, you feel that crisp air traveling into your lungs down towards your belly.
SPEAKER_01And as you exhale, your body relaxes a little bit more. Inhaling all the way down into your toes. Exhaling all the way out through your fingertips and through the top of your head. As you inhale, you smell the fall leaves. A smell that only comes around once a year.
SPEAKER_00Some bright yellows, some muted oranges, deep reds, and still some trees giving life to those green leaves.
SPEAKER_01Inhaling and exhaling.
SPEAKER_00As if someone is walking through them, or perhaps just a squirrel hiding their bounty for the next year. And you're going to use that mind's eye to look up into one of the tallest trees and see a gorgeous leaf. The most perfect autumn-colored leaf.
SPEAKER_01Slowly drifting down.
SPEAKER_00As if every tiny air current is gently scooping it up one more time.
SPEAKER_01And one more time.
SPEAKER_00A little up and then a little more down, eventually making its way down to your body, and it lands just in the center of your chest. And although it weighs very little, you feel a burst of warmth travel through your body. As if the color of that leaf carries the warmth of the sun down to you. But that leaf stays there as if it's a blanket dropped from the sky.
SPEAKER_01You continue to inhale and exhale. Hearing another squirrel rustle through the leaves nearby the scent of a wood burning stove drifts across your nose. And exhale.
SPEAKER_00Perhaps you turn your head a little towards one side and a little towards another. Eventually bringing both hands on top of that leaf that's on top of your body.
SPEAKER_01Feeling the crackle of the leaf.
SPEAKER_00The fragility of this moment we have together. And taking a big inhale, thanking yourself for taking this moment.
SPEAKER_01Exhaling.
SPEAKER_00Taking another big inhale, filling that leaf with love and gratitude. An exhale sending that leaf towards someone you love. Releasing your hands back down to your lap or to the ground. And slowly opening your eyes. Thank you for joining me for this meditation. I release episodes weekly and meditations once a month. Episodes include solo as well as guests. And again, I encourage you to use these meditations a few times a week because prioritizing your connection to your body and mind is the key to calming your nervous system and navigating this world from a more grounded place. Thank you for tuning in, and I look forward to connecting with you.
